Description
The Knightsbridge CU2163 is a 3-gang 2-way leading edge dimmer with a white rounded-edge faceplate, controlling incandescent lamps at 40-400W per gang or LED lamps at 3-100W per gang. Each rotary control has push on/off operation, allowing quick switching without turning the dial to minimum, and the dimming range is set by the leading edge circuitry to prevent lamp flicker at low levels.
Designed for living rooms, bedrooms and hospitality spaces where multiple lighting circuits need independent dimming control from a single wall position, the 3-gang layout suits rooms with three separate ceiling zones, three wall light circuits, or a mix of downlights, pendants and decorative fittings. The 2-way wiring allows the same circuits to be controlled from a second location (e.g. either end of a hallway or bedroom), with the dimming function available from both switch positions.
The 7mm-deep white thermoset resin plate has rounded edges and an anti-microbial coating tested to ISO 22196:2011, which inhibits bacterial growth on the surface between cleans. The plate requires a 35mm minimum back box depth and includes screw cap covers that hide the fixing screws once installed, giving a cleaner finish than exposed screw heads. The dimmer is certified to EN 60669-2-1 for residential use at 230V 50Hz and carries IP20 rating for indoor dry locations only.

Frequently Asked
What's the difference between leading edge and trailing edge dimmers?
Leading edge dimmers work by cutting the front of the AC waveform and are designed primarily for incandescent, halogen and some dimmable LED lamps. Trailing edge dimmers cut the rear of the waveform and are better suited to electronic loads including most modern LED and CFL lamps. This CU2163 is a leading edge dimmer rated at 3-100W per gang for LED — always check lamp manufacturer compatibility before pairing with LED bulbs.
Can I use this with any dimmable LED bulb?
Not all dimmable LED lamps are compatible with leading edge dimmers. Check the lamp manufacturer's specification or packaging to confirm compatibility with leading edge dimming circuitry. Incompatible lamps may flicker, buzz, or fail to dim smoothly across the full range.
What does 2-way mean?
2-way wiring allows the same lighting circuit to be controlled from two separate switch positions (e.g. either end of a hallway or at the top and bottom of stairs). The dimming function is available from both positions when correctly wired with a matching 2-way switch or dimmer.
What back box depth is required?
A 35mm minimum back box depth is needed to accommodate the dimmer module and wiring. The faceplate adds 7mm of projection from the wall once fitted.
