The Knightsbridge FP2193BC is a 3-gang 2-way intelligent dimmer rated for 10-200W incandescent loads or 5-150W LED loads per gang, housed behind a brushed chrome flat plate with matching rotary dimmer knobs. Each gang switches between trailing-edge and leading-edge dimming modes via a front-mounted control, allowing compatibility with a wide range of dimmable lamps without re-wiring or accessing the back box.

Designed for multi-zone lighting control in living rooms, dining rooms, kitchens and commercial environments, the dimmer operates on a push on/off, rotary dimming action. Each knob controls one zone independently, allowing three separate lighting circuits to be dimmed from a single plate. The 2-way wiring configuration permits control from two locations (e.g. both ends of a hallway or from upstairs and downstairs landing switches paired with matching 2-way intermediates).

The flat plate design projects just 2.5mm from the wall once installed, sitting nearly flush with the surface. The premium-grade steel construction carries a brushed chrome finish that resists fingerprints and pairs with contemporary, industrial and minimalist interiors. Each dimmer gang includes overload and overheat protection, plus an inrush current limiter to handle the initial surge when dimmable LED lamps are switched on.

All mode switching, trimming and resetting is accessible from the front of the plate via the control knobs, so if a lamp type or fitting is changed after installation, the dimmer can be re-adjusted without removing the faceplate or accessing terminals. The dimmer ships preset in trailing-edge mode, which suits most modern LED lamps, but can be switched to leading-edge for older electronic transformers or specific lamp types that flicker or buzz on trailing-edge.

What's the difference between trailing-edge and leading-edge dimming?

Trailing-edge (preset on this dimmer) suits most modern LED and CFL lamps and produces smoother, quieter dimming with less buzzing. Leading-edge suits older electronic transformers and some halogen lamps. If lamps flicker or buzz on one mode, switch to the other via the front control knob.

Can I mix lamp types or wattages on the same gang?

No. Each gang must use the same brand, type and wattage of dimmable lamp. Mixing lamp types on one circuit can cause flickering, buzzing or premature lamp failure, and may prevent the dimmer from calibrating correctly.

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is required for safe installation. The 2.5mm projection of the flat plate adds minimal additional depth once the dimmer is fitted to the wall.

Is this compatible with all dimmable LED bulbs?

The dimmer is compatible with most dimmable LED lamps rated between 5W and 150W per gang, but not all dimmable LEDs behave the same way. Test compatibility with your specific lamp model before installing across multiple rooms, and use the mode switch if flicker or buzz occurs.
