Description

The Knightsbridge 3-gang intelligent dimmer controls three independent lighting zones from a single gunmetal flat plate, with each gang rated for 10-200W resistive or 5-150W LED loads. The dimmer switches between trailing-edge and leading-edge modes via a control knob on the front of the plate, providing compatibility with a wide range of dimmable bulbs and transformers without re-wiring.

Designed for living rooms, dining rooms and bedrooms where multiple light circuits need separate dimming control, the three rotary knobs allow independent adjustment of each zone. Push the knob to switch on or off, rotate to dim up or down. Each gang can be trimmed from the front to set minimum brightness levels, and the mode can be switched between trailing-edge (capacitive, suitable for most dimmable LEDs) and leading-edge (inductive, suitable for wire-wound transformers and some older halogen setups) without removing the plate from the wall.

The gunmetal finish is a dark grey metal with a low-sheen surface that sits between matt black and brushed steel in tone. The ultra-flat 2.5mm projection from the wall reduces the visible edge and gives a flush appearance against painted plasterwork. The plate is constructed from premium-grade steel and fits a standard 25mm minimum back box depth. Overload and overheat protection circuits are built into each gang, along with an inrush current limiter to prevent tripping when switching on high-draw LED arrays.

Frequently Asked

What's the difference between trailing-edge and leading-edge modes?

Trailing-edge mode (the factory preset) is capacitive and works with most dimmable LED bulbs and electronic transformers. Leading-edge mode is inductive and suits wire-wound transformers and some older halogen setups. The dimmer can be switched between modes via the control knob on the front of the plate without re-wiring.

Can I use different bulb types on the three gangs?

No. Each gang must control a single type of bulb at a consistent wattage. Mixing brands, wattages or bulb technologies (e.g. LED and halogen) on the same gang will cause flickering, buzzing or failure to dim properly. You can use different bulb types across the three separate gangs, but each gang must be homogeneous.

How is the minimum brightness adjusted?

Each gang has a trim control accessed via the rotary knob on the front of the plate. Remove the knob to reveal the trim screw, adjust it to set the minimum dim level, then replace the knob. This prevents the bulbs from flickering or turning off when dimmed to their lowest setting.

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The 2.5mm projection of the plate from the wall is measured after the back box is fitted and wired.
