Description

The Knightsbridge GDS002F is a 3-4 gang grid mounting frame in premium-grade steel, designed to sit behind screwless grid faceplates and hold modular grid components in place. The frame measures 148mm wide by 88mm high with a 10mm projection from the wall, and includes an integrated earth terminal and a perimeter gasket to seal the back of the faceplate against the mounting box.

This frame is used in modular grid wiring installations where individual grid modules (switches, sockets, data ports, satellite outlets) are clipped into the frame, and then the entire assembly is fitted into a back box before the screwless faceplate is clipped over the top. The system allows custom configurations of switches and outlets without needing fixed-configuration plates. The frame accepts between 3 and 4 standard-width grid modules depending on the combination chosen.

The premium-grade steel construction provides mechanical strength to support multiple grid modules without flexing, and the integrated earth terminal ensures continuity of earth bonding across all metallic components in the installation. The gasket around the perimeter of the frame creates an IP20 seal when the faceplate is fitted, preventing dust ingress behind the plate. The 25-year warranty covers manufacturing defects in the frame itself.

What is this frame used for?

This frame sits inside a standard back box and holds modular grid components (switches, sockets, data ports) in place before a screwless faceplate is clipped over the top. It allows custom configurations of electrical accessories without needing pre-configured plates.

How many modules does it accept?

The frame accepts between 3 and 4 standard-width grid modules depending on the combination chosen. For example, three double-width modules or four single-width modules will fit.

What back box is required?

A standard 3-gang or 4-gang back box with 35mm minimum depth is needed. The frame fixes to the lugs inside the back box using the existing fixing points.

Is the gasket replaceable?

The gasket is integrated into the frame and is not designed to be replaced separately. If the gasket becomes damaged, the entire frame should be replaced to maintain the IP20 seal.
