Description

A shallow disc of opal white diffuser set into a silver ring, this one sits tight against the ceiling and reads as part of it rather than something hanging from it. The diameter is 30cm, which covers a good deal of a small room without dominating. The LED is built in and draws 24W, throwing a wide, even wash of daylight-toned light at 6400K. There is no dimming and no pull switch, so it takes its cue from the wall switch on the circuit.

We fit lights like this in halls, landings, stair heads and utility rooms, anywhere the ceiling is low and a pendant would be in the way. Because the body is sealed against dust and splashing water, it also earns a place in bathrooms and shower rooms. The cool, crisp tone suits working spaces: a kitchen worktop, a garage bench, a laundry area where you want to see what you are doing. Softer, warmer rooms may find it brisk, so we would keep it to circulation and utility.

The diffuser is opal white, which hides the diodes and spreads the output rather than letting it glare, and the trim ring is silver for a crisp edge against a white ceiling. The driver is supplied with it. For cleaning, wipe the face with a damp cloth and dry it off, with the power off at the switch first; nothing abrasive, as the opal surface scuffs.
