Description

The Knightsbridge 20A 4-pole rotary isolator switches off all four poles of a circuit using a single rotary action, housed in an IP65-rated enclosure that protects against dust and water jets. The red rotary handle sits on a yellow surround for high-contrast visibility in workshops, plant rooms and outdoor installations, and the handle locks the lid shut when the isolator is in the ON position.

Designed for industrial and commercial circuit isolation where machinery or equipment needs to be safely de-energised for maintenance, the isolator handles 230-415V circuits up to 20A. The lid interlock prevents the enclosure from being opened when the switch is live, reducing the risk of accidental contact with terminals during servicing. M20-M25 knockouts on the base allow cable glands to be fitted without drilling.

The ABS and polycarbonate construction gives the enclosure impact resistance and UV stability for external mounting. The 125mm height, 100mm width and 120mm projection allow the unit to be surface-mounted on walls, machinery housings or control panels. The earth terminal inside is independently connected and accessible once the isolator is switched off and the lid opened.

What does 4-pole switching mean?

Four-pole switching isolates all four conductors in a three-phase circuit — the three live phases plus the neutral. This provides full isolation for three-phase equipment, preventing any current path from remaining live when the isolator is turned off.

Can the lid be opened when the switch is on?

No. The handle interlocks with the lid when in the ON position, preventing the enclosure from being opened while the circuit is live. The lid can only be opened once the isolator is rotated to the OFF position.

Is it suitable for outdoor use?

Yes. The IP65 rating protects the internals against dust and water jets from any direction, making the isolator suitable for outdoor mounting where it may be exposed to rain and dust.

What cable entry options are available?

The enclosure has M20-M25 knockouts on the base for fitting standard cable glands. These can be removed as needed to accommodate the cables entering and leaving the isolator.
