Description

The Knightsbridge 20A 1-gang DP switch provides dual-pole switching for fixed appliances such as immersion heaters, water heaters, and kitchen extractor fans. The anthracite screwless faceplate measures 87.5mm square with a 4.3mm projection from the wall, fitting a standard 25mm minimum back box depth.

Designed for residential and commercial installation, the switch isolates both live and neutral lines when turned off, providing additional safety over single-pole switching for high-current fixed appliances. The screwless cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame, leaving no visible fixings on the wall once installed. A built-in gasket between the plate and back box provides a secure fit and reduces flex during use.

The anthracite finish is a dark metallic grey closer to charcoal than black, providing a contemporary neutral that pairs with both warm and cool colour schemes. The rocker switch is finished in the same anthracite tone as the faceplate, creating a monochromatic appearance without contrast edges. The premium-grade steel construction carries a 25-year manufacturer warranty and EN 60669-1 certification for electrical safety.

Frequently Asked

What appliances is this switch designed for?

The 20A rating suits fixed appliances including immersion heaters, electric water heaters, kitchen extractor fans, and towel rails. The dual-pole switching isolates both live and neutral when turned off, which is required by UK building regulations for certain fixed appliances.

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed. The screwless cover plate adds 4.3mm of projection from the wall once fitted, giving a total depth of approximately 29mm from the back of the back box to the front of the faceplate.

Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?

Yes. The cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting around the switch and re-clipped without re-wiring.

What is the difference between anthracite and black finishes?

Anthracite is a dark metallic grey closer to charcoal, while black is a true opaque black. Anthracite has a slightly softer appearance under most lighting and pairs more flexibly with both warm and cool interior colour schemes.
