Description

A pink screwless plate carrying two coaxial connections, for television and aerial feeds rather than mains power. The front face is flat and unbroken, with no screw heads to interrupt the colour, and the plate measures 88mm square, so it keeps to the familiar footprint of a single plate. It is a low voltage signal fitting, doing the quiet work of getting a picture to the right corner of the room while looking like something chosen rather than something inherited.

We would put it behind a television, where a main aerial feed and another run through to a recorder or a set-top box both need to land in the same spot, or in a bedroom where a set is wired in permanently. It suits anyone who has picked colour for the rest of the room and would rather not see plain white plastic undoing the effort, so it earns its place in a child's room, a snug, or anywhere the paint is already bold. Keep it to dry indoor spaces: this is a plate for the rooms you live in, not a garage, a shed or a covered porch.

The plate is moulded in polycarbonate, a hard plastic that takes a strong colour well and does not yellow the way older white mouldings tend to. For cleaning, a barely damp cloth followed by a dry one is all it wants; household sprays, solvent and cream polish will dull the pink, so keep them off the front face. It carries a ten year warranty. Because the plate is smooth all over, it reads as a deliberate piece of the room rather than hardware you tolerate, and it looks best where the wall behind it has some depth of tone, whether that is a dark paint, a patterned paper or a warm neutral. No aerial cable or lead is supplied with it.

What is it made from?

Moulded polycarbonate with a pink finish, and a screwless front so no fixings show on the face.
