Description

The Knightsbridge 2-gang blanking plate covers unused or redundant electrical boxes behind a white thermoset resin faceplate with rounded edges and a 7mm projection from the wall. The plate carries an anti-microbial coating tested to ISO 22196:2011, reducing bacterial growth on the surface in kitchens, bathrooms, healthcare environments and other high-touch areas.

Designed for residential, commercial and hospitality installation, the blanking plate fits standard 2-gang 25mm back boxes and uses screw fixings with included white screw cap covers that conceal the fixing heads once installed. The IP20 rating confirms the plate is suitable for dry indoor locations but not for use in zones requiring splash or moisture protection.

The rounded edge profile softens the visual transition between wall and plate, particularly on painted or wallpapered surfaces where a sharp-edged plate can catch light or create a hard shadow line. The thermoset resin construction resists impact, scratching and discolouration better than standard thermoplastic plates, and the white finish integrates with standard white switch and socket ranges from Knightsbridge and other manufacturers.

What back box does this fit?

The plate fits standard 2-gang UK electrical boxes with 146mm horizontal centres. It is designed for 25mm back boxes and uses screw fixings through the two mounting holes visible in the image.

What does the anti-microbial coating do?

The coating reduces bacterial growth on the surface of the plate. It has been tested to ISO 22196:2011, which measures the ability of plastics and other non-porous surfaces to inhibit bacterial proliferation. This is particularly useful in kitchens, bathrooms, hospitals and schools.

Are the screw covers included?

Yes. White screw cap covers are included, allowing the fixing screws to be concealed after installation for a cleaner finish.

What is the difference between thermoset and thermoplastic?

Thermoset resin is a harder, more impact-resistant material than standard thermoplastic. It resists scratching, discolouration and deformation under heat better than cheaper thermoplastic plates, and typically carries a longer warranty.
