Description

The Knightsbridge 2-gang blanking plate covers unused or redundant electrical back boxes behind a smoked bronze screwless faceplate. The plate measures 147.5mm wide by 87.5mm high and projects just 4.3mm from the wall once fitted, giving a low-profile finish that sits almost flush with the wall surface.

Designed for residential and commercial interiors where electrical back boxes have been left in place after circuit reconfiguration or where planned outlets were never fitted, the blanking plate conceals the void and prevents dust ingress. The screwless cover clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box, so there are no visible fixings on the wall once installed. The built-in gasket between the cover and sub-frame creates a seal that improves the IP20 rating for indoor dry locations.

The smoked bronze finish is a dark, muted metallic tone that sits between brushed bronze and graphite, offering a contemporary alternative to polished brass or chrome. The premium-grade steel construction includes an earth terminal for Class I compliance, and the plate is manufactured to IEC 60670-1 standards. The finish pairs well with darker wood tones, black or charcoal joinery, and industrial or modern interiors where warmer metallics are preferred over chrome.

Frequently Asked

What back box size does this fit?

The 2-gang blanking plate fits standard UK double-gang 35mm back boxes. The screwless cover clips onto a metal sub-frame that fixes to the back box lugs using the same screw positions as a standard socket or switch.

Can the screwless cover be removed for redecorating?

Yes. The cover plate clips onto a separate sub-frame and can be removed for painting or wallpapering around the plate, then re-clipped without disturbing the back box or wiring connections.

What other finishes are available in this range?

Knightsbridge produces this blanking plate design in multiple finishes including polished chrome, brushed chrome, polished brass, antique brass, matt black and white. Use the search function or filters to find other variants in stock at Niori.

Is smoked bronze the same as antique brass?

No. Smoked bronze is a darker, cooler-toned metallic finish that sits between brushed bronze and graphite. Antique brass has a warmer, more golden base tone. Smoked bronze pairs better with black, charcoal and cooler greys.
