Description
The Knightsbridge 2-gang blanking plate in anthracite covers unused electrical back boxes behind a screwless cover plate. Constructed from premium-grade steel with an anthracite powder-coat finish, the plate measures 147.5mm wide by 87.5mm high and projects just 4.3mm from the wall once installed. A built-in gasket sits between the plate and the back box, reducing dust ingress and improving the seal.
Designed for residential, hospitality and commercial installation, the blanking plate is used where electrical wiring has been run to a location but no active outlet or switch is currently needed, or where redundant boxes from previous installations remain in the wall. The screwless cover clips onto a separate metal sub-frame, leaving no visible fixings on the wall surface. The anthracite finish provides a dark grey-charcoal tone that pairs with contemporary and industrial interiors, matching Knightsbridge's wider anthracite range of switches and sockets.
The plate is rated IP20 for indoor use and carries Class I earthing with an earth terminal on the sub-frame. Certified to IEC 60670-1 standards for mechanical and electrical safety, the plate is backed by a 25-year manufacturer warranty. The minimal 4.3mm projection makes it suitable for installations where low-profile finishing is required, such as near door frames or in narrow corridors.

Frequently Asked
What back box size does this fit?
The plate fits standard UK 2-gang back boxes with 120.5mm horizontal screw centres. The screwless cover clips onto a separate sub-frame that is fixed to the back box with screws.
Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?
Yes. The anthracite cover plate clips onto the metal sub-frame and can be removed by hand for painting or wallpapering around the plate, then re-clipped without needing any tools or re-wiring.
Does it need to be earthed?
The plate is rated Class I and includes an earth terminal on the sub-frame. If the back box is metal or if earth wiring is present in the box, the earth should be connected to the terminal for safety compliance.
What other finishes are available in this range?
