Description
The Knightsbridge FP2192PB is a 2-gang 2-way intelligent dimmer rated at 10-200W per gang (5-150W for LED loads), housed in a polished brass flat plate with a 2.5mm projection from the wall. The dimmer supports both trailing-edge and leading-edge modes, switchable via the front control knob, allowing it to work with resistive halogen, incandescent and most dimmable LED and CFL lamps. Each gang operates independently and includes overload and overheat protection plus an integrated inrush current limiter.
Designed for residential installations where two separate lighting zones need dimming control from a single plate, the dimmer suits living rooms with separate main and accent lighting, hallways with up and down lighting, or dining rooms with pendant and wall light circuits. The 2-way configuration allows the dimmer to work in conjunction with a matching 2-way switch at the opposite end of the same room, giving control from two locations. The rotary action provides smooth dimming with push on/off at the centre of each knob.
The flat plate construction uses premium-grade steel with a polished brass finish that develops a natural patina over time unless regularly polished. The ultra-low 2.5mm projection keeps the plate close to the wall, reducing snag risk in narrow hallways and tight spaces. The dimmer ships pre-set to trailing-edge mode, which suits most modern LED lamps, and can be trimmed, mode-switched or reset using the front control without removing the plate or accessing wiring. The 25mm minimum back box depth fits standard UK mounting boxes.

Frequently Asked
What's the difference between trailing-edge and leading-edge modes?
Trailing-edge mode suits most modern dimmable LED and CFL lamps and reduces electrical noise and flicker. Leading-edge mode suits older resistive loads like halogen and incandescent bulbs. The dimmer ships pre-set to trailing-edge and can be switched between modes using the front control knob.
Can I mix LED and halogen bulbs on the same gang?
No. Each gang should control only one lamp type and ideally one brand and wattage. Mixing different lamp technologies or wattages on the same circuit can cause flicker, buzzing or incompatibility with the dimmer's load detection.
What does 2-way mean?
2-way means the dimmer can work in conjunction with a matching 2-way switch at another location to control the same lighting circuit from two points in the room, such as at opposite ends of a hallway or either side of a bedroom.
Does the polished brass tarnish?
Polished brass develops a natural patina over time when exposed to air and handling. This can be maintained with regular polishing using a brass cleaner, or left to age naturally for an antique appearance.
