Description

The Knightsbridge 2-gang 2-way intelligent dimmer provides independent control of two lighting circuits from one or more switch positions, handling 10-200W per gang for traditional bulbs or 5-150W per gang for dimmable LEDs. The rotary dimmer caps are matt black to match the screwless faceplate, and each gang operates with a push on/off action combined with rotary dimming control.

Preset in trailing-edge mode for LED compatibility, the dimmer can be switched to leading-edge mode from the front plate using the control knob, without removing the faceplate or rewiring. This allows the dimmer to adapt to different lamp types as fittings are changed over time. Mode switching, trimming adjustments and factory reset are all accessible via the same front-plate control, making the dimmer suitable for installations where lamp types may vary or upgrade over the product's lifespan.

Designed for residential and commercial installations with 25mm minimum back box depth, the dimmer includes overload and overheat protection plus an integrated inrush current limiter to prevent surges when switching on high-capacitance LED drivers. The premium-grade steel construction and screwless cover plate provide a low-profile 4.3mm projection from the wall once installed. The matt black finish works across contemporary, industrial and monochrome interiors.

Each gang operates independently, so different dim levels can be set for each circuit. The 2-way wiring configuration allows the dimmer to be paired with a second 2-way switch elsewhere in the room, enabling control of the same lighting circuit from two locations. Note that for reliable dimming, avoid mixing different LED brands or wattages within the same lighting circuit controlled by one gang.

Frequently Asked

What's the difference between trailing-edge and leading-edge dimming?

Trailing-edge dimming works by cutting the tail end of each AC waveform and is designed for low-voltage electronic transformers and most dimmable LED drivers. Leading-edge cuts the front of the waveform and suits resistive loads like traditional incandescent and halogen bulbs. This dimmer is preset to trailing-edge for LED compatibility but can be switched to leading-edge from the front plate if needed for older lamp types.

Can this control two separate rooms or circuits?

Yes. Each gang controls an independent lighting circuit, so you can use one gang for a living room and the other for a hallway, or one for ceiling lights and one for wall lights in the same room. Each gang dims independently.

What does 2-way wiring mean?

2-way wiring allows the same lighting circuit to be controlled from two different switch positions. You can pair this dimmer with a standard 2-way switch at another location in the room, so the lights can be turned on or off from either position. Only one of the two switches will provide dimming control.

Why avoid mixing LED brands on one gang?

Different LED brands use different driver circuits, which can respond differently to the same dimmer signal. Mixing brands on one gang can result in uneven dimming, flickering, or one set of bulbs not dimming at all while others do. For best results, use the same brand and wattage across all bulbs controlled by a single gang.
