Description

The Knightsbridge FP2192GM is a 2-gang 2-way intelligent dimmer supporting 10-200W incandescent or halogen loads per gang, or 5-150W LED per gang, behind a gunmetal flat plate with matching dimmer caps. Each gang controls a separate lighting zone independently, with rotary dimming action and push on/off switching built into the control knob.

Designed for residential installation where two separate circuits need dimming control from a single faceplate, the dimmer switches between Trailing-edge mode (pre-set, suits most LED and electronic transformers) and Leading-edge mode (suits resistive loads and magnetic transformers) via the front control knob. Trimming adjustments, mode switching and factory reset are all accessible from the front plate without removing the dimmer from the wall, which simplifies commissioning and troubleshooting on site.

The flat plate construction projects just 2.5mm from the wall once fitted to a 25mm minimum back box, giving a lower profile than standard screw-fixed faceplates. The gunmetal finish is a dark grey with subtle metallic sheen that pairs well with contemporary interiors, industrial schemes and monochrome colour palettes. The dimmer includes overload and overheat protection, plus an integrated Inrush Current Limiter (ICL) to manage high inrush current when LED loads are first switched on.

The dimmer is not recommended for mixed-load installations where different lamp brands, wattage ratings or lamp types are combined on a single gang. For best performance, each gang should control identical lamps of the same wattage from the same manufacturer.

Frequently Asked

What's the difference between Trailing-edge and Leading-edge mode?

Trailing-edge mode (pre-set on this dimmer) suits most LED lamps and electronic transformers by cutting the trailing edge of the AC waveform. Leading-edge mode suits resistive loads like incandescent bulbs and magnetic transformers by cutting the leading edge. The mode can be switched via the front control knob without removing the dimmer from the wall.

Can I mix LED and halogen bulbs on one gang?

No. Knightsbridge recommends against mixing lamp types, brands or wattages on a single gang. Each gang should control identical lamps from the same manufacturer for reliable dimming performance and to avoid flicker or incompatibility.

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The flat plate adds 2.5mm of projection from the wall once fitted, giving a total of approximately 27.5mm from the wall surface to the front of the faceplate.

How is the minimum brightness adjusted?

The dimmer has a trim adjustment accessible via the front control knob. This allows the minimum brightness level to be set during installation to prevent the lamps cutting out at the lower end of the dimming range or flickering when dimmed low.
