Description
The Knightsbridge 18W LED eyelid bulkhead combines die-cast aluminium construction with an integrated daylight sensor and CCT-switchable LED gear tray offering 3000K (1020lm), 4000K (1080lm), or 6000K (1090lm) output. The eyelid hood shields the opal polycarbonate diffuser from direct view from above, reducing upward light spill and glare while directing illumination downward and outward across pathways, building perimeters and covered outdoor areas.
Designed for exterior wall mounting on residential, commercial and industrial buildings, the bulkhead suits entrances, covered walkways, loading bays, car parks and garden perimeters where automated dusk-to-dawn operation is required. The integral photocell switches the light on when ambient light drops below a threshold and off again at dawn, removing the need for separate timers or manual switching. The IP65 rating protects against dust ingress and water jets from any direction, so the fitting tolerates exposed positions in UK weather.
The 360mm diameter circular body projects 94mm from the wall once surface-mounted, and the black powder-coated finish on the aluminium housing resists corrosion in coastal and urban environments. The opal diffuser is impact-resistant polycarbonate secured with anti-vandal fixings, making the bulkhead suitable for public-facing positions where accidental or deliberate impact is a risk. The SMD LED array inside is rated L70B50 at 50,000 hours, meaning it will retain at least 70% of initial output after approximately 5.7 years of continuous operation before requiring replacement.
The CCT switch on the gear tray allows the installer to select warm white (3000K), neutral white (4000K) or cool white (6000K) at the point of installation, giving flexibility to match the colour temperature to the surrounding environment or existing fittings without stocking multiple product variants. The constant-current driver operates on 230V 50Hz mains and the fitting is Class I, requiring an earth connection during installation.

Frequently Asked
How does the daylight sensor work?
The integral photocell detects ambient light levels and automatically switches the bulkhead on at dusk and off at dawn. The sensor threshold is factory-set and does not require adjustment during installation. The bulkhead must be positioned where the sensor can read natural daylight — avoid installing under deep eaves or in shaded recesses where the sensor cannot detect dawn.
What does CCT switchable mean?
The LED gear tray inside the bulkhead has a physical switch allowing the installer to select 3000K warm white, 4000K neutral white, or 6000K cool white at the point of installation. Once set, the colour temperature remains fixed — it is not user-adjustable after the fitting is closed and installed.
Can this be installed in fully exposed positions?
Yes. The IP65 rating protects against dust ingress and water jets from any direction, so the bulkhead tolerates rain, snow and direct hose-down. The die-cast aluminium housing and impact-resistant polycarbonate diffuser are designed for year-round outdoor exposure in UK weather.
Is the bulkhead vandal-resistant?
The diffuser is secured with anti-vandal polycarbonate fixings and the polycarbonate material itself resists impact better than glass or acrylic. This makes the fitting suitable for public-facing positions such as building entrances, car parks and communal walkways where accidental or deliberate impact is a risk.
