Description
The Knightsbridge 18W LED bulkhead combines emergency backup lighting, an integral daylight sensor and CCT-adjustable output in a 360mm diameter die-cast aluminium housing with an IP65 rating. The CCT adjustment lets you select 3000K (1680 lumens), 4000K (1790 lumens) or 6000K (1810 lumens) on installation by switching a setting on the LED gear tray inside the fitting.
Designed for external walls, covered car parks, industrial loading bays, stairwells and public building entrances where emergency lighting compliance and automatic dusk-to-dawn operation are both required. The daylight sensor switches the bulkhead on when ambient light drops below a threshold and off again at dawn, removing the need for manual switching or separate timer controls. The emergency function provides maintained, non-maintained or switched emergency modes selectable during installation, with 190-200 lumens output in emergency mode for up to 3 hours during mains failure.
The die-cast aluminium body and opal polycarbonate diffuser provide impact resistance rated IK08, with anti-vandal polycarbonate fixings securing the diffuser to the baseplate. The 92mm projection from the wall and Class I earthed construction suit mounting on brick, block or timber-framed external walls where a weatherproof fitting with backup lighting capability is specified. The 50,000-hour L70B50 rating and 5-year warranty (excluding battery) give commercial-grade reliability.

Frequently Asked
How does the daylight sensor work?
The integral photocell sensor monitors ambient light levels. When light drops below a pre-set threshold at dusk, the bulkhead switches on automatically. At dawn, when light levels rise, it switches off. This removes the need for manual switching or separate timer controls.
What emergency modes are available?
The bulkhead can be configured for maintained (always on, stays on during mains failure), non-maintained (only on during mains failure), or switched emergency mode. The setting is selected on installation by adjusting the gear tray inside the fitting. Emergency mode provides 190-200 lumens for up to 3 hours.
How do I change the colour temperature?
The CCT is adjusted during installation by switching a setting on the LED gear tray inside the fitting. You select 3000K (warm white), 4000K (neutral white) or 6000K (cool white) before closing the diffuser. The setting cannot be changed while the fitting is live.
Can it be mounted on timber-framed walls?
Yes. The bulkhead is Class I earthed and requires a suitable earth connection, but it can be mounted on brick, block, concrete or timber-framed walls where the fixing holes in the baseplate can be secured and an earth point is available.
