Description
The Knightsbridge FL16ABK is a 16W twin spot LED security light with a built-in 180° PIR motion sensor, housed in a compact polycarbonate body with two independently adjustable die-cast aluminium spotlight heads. Each head contains an 8W SMD LED module producing 5000K daylight white light, delivering a combined 1300 lumens across an 85° beam angle. The IP55 rating protects the fitting against dust ingress and water jets from any direction, making it suitable for external wall mounting on homes, garages, workshops and commercial building perimeters.
The PIR sensor detects movement up to 10 metres away across a 180° horizontal field, triggering both spotlight heads simultaneously when motion is detected within range. Lux and time settings are adjustable via controls on the unit itself, allowing the light to be configured to activate only after dark and to remain on for a set duration after the last detected movement. The two spotlight heads rotate and tilt independently on ball joints, so one can be aimed at a doorway while the other covers a driveway or side path.
Installation uses a quick-fit backing plate that mounts to the wall first and accepts mains wiring terminations before the main light unit plugs into it, reducing the time spent working at height. The compact 141mm width and 113mm projection suit standard wall spacing without overwhelming a typical domestic fascia or rendered wall. The black finish on both the polycarbonate body and the aluminium spotlight housings provides a neutral appearance that pairs with most building materials and trim colours.
The integrated LEDs are rated for 60,000 hours to L70B50 (the point at which 50% of LEDs have degraded to 70% of their original output), which equates to approximately 20 years of typical domestic security lighting use at 8 hours per night. The SMD LED technology eliminates the need for bulb replacement over the life of the fitting, and the Class II double-insulated construction means no earth connection is required during installation.

Frequently Asked
What is the PIR detection range and can it be adjusted?
The PIR sensor detects movement up to 10 metres away across a 180° horizontal field. The sensitivity cannot be reduced, but the lux setting allows you to configure whether the light activates in daylight or only after dark, and the time setting controls how long the light remains on after the last detected movement.
Can the two spotlight heads be aimed in different directions?
Yes. Each die-cast aluminium spotlight head rotates and tilts independently on a ball joint, allowing one to cover a doorway while the other covers a driveway, side path or garden area. This gives more flexible coverage than a single fixed floodlight.
Is the fitting suitable for coastal or high-moisture environments?
The IP55 rating protects against dust and water jets, making the fitting suitable for standard outdoor installation. Coastal environments with salt spray may accelerate corrosion of external fixings over time. Regular inspection and replacement of stainless steel mounting hardware is recommended in exposed coastal locations.
Do the LEDs need replacing?
No. The integrated SMD LEDs are rated for 60,000 hours to L70B50, equivalent to approximately 20 years of typical domestic security lighting use. The LEDs are not user-replaceable, but this lifespan exceeds the typical service life of the PIR sensor and polycarbonate housing in most installations.
