Description
The Knightsbridge BT14ACTEMS is a 14W LED bulkhead fitting IP65-rated polycarbonate body, colour temperature switching between 3000K (1130lm), 4000K (1260lm) and 5700K (1210lm), a 3-hour maintained emergency function and an integrated microwave sensor with adjustable detection range, lux threshold and hold time. The fitting mounts flush to walls or ceilings and suits both internal and external use where emergency lighting and automatic activation are required.
Designed for commercial stairwells, car parks, external walkways, storage areas and residential garages, the bulkhead combines three functions in one fitting: general lighting at 1130-1260 lumens depending on CCT setting, emergency lighting at 180 lumens during mains failure, and motion-activated operation to reduce energy consumption in low-traffic areas. The microwave sensor detects movement through doors and partitions, with adjustable sensitivity allowing the detection range to be tuned during commissioning. The 3-hour emergency mode operates as maintained (permanent on) or non-maintained (emergency-only) depending on commissioning settings.
The 315mm-diameter body projects 74mm from the mounting surface and uses a hinged gear tray that swings down to access the LED driver, emergency module and sensor controls without removing the fitting from the wall. The push-fit terminal block accepts mains wiring without screwdrivers. The opal polycarbonate diffuser provides a 115-degree beam spread with CRI >80 colour rendering. The Class II double-insulated construction requires no earth connection. The fitting carries a 5-year warranty (excluding battery) and L70B50 50,000-hour LED life expectancy, equating to approximately 17 years at 8 hours per day operation.

Frequently Asked
How is the colour temperature changed?
The CCT switch is accessed via the hinged gear tray on the rear of the fitting. The switch allows selection between 3000K warm white (1130lm), 4000K neutral white (1260lm) and 5700K daylight (1210lm). The setting should be selected during installation before the fitting is closed and mounted.
Can the sensor be adjusted or disabled?
Yes. The microwave sensor has adjustable controls for detection range, lux threshold and hold time, accessible via the hinged gear tray. These settings allow the sensor to be tuned to specific room sizes and occupancy patterns during commissioning. The sensor cannot be completely disabled on this model.
How does the emergency function work?
The fitting contains a 3-hour emergency battery module that activates during mains power failure. In maintained mode the fitting remains permanently lit and the emergency module takes over during outages. In non-maintained mode the fitting only illuminates during power failure. Emergency output is 180 lumens regardless of the main CCT setting.
Is it suitable for outdoor use in all weather?
The IP65 rating protects against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets from any direction, making the fitting suitable for external use under eaves, covered walkways and canopies. It is not rated for full submersion or high-pressure washing.
