Description

The Knightsbridge 13A switched fused spur unit provides a dedicated fused connection point for fixed electrical appliances such as boilers, extractor fans, wall ovens and bathroom towel rails. The unit combines a rocker switch, a red neon indicator and a replaceable 13A fuse behind a matt white screwless faceplate. The neon glows when the switch is on, confirming power is supplied to the connected appliance.

Designed for residential and light commercial installation, the fused spur isolates and protects a single appliance circuit without needing a plug and socket. The screwless cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box, leaving no visible fixings on the wall once installed. The 25mm minimum back box depth suits standard UK cavity wall and surface box installations, and the unit is certified to BS 1363-4 for switched connection units.

The matt white finish provides a neutral backdrop that works across contemporary, traditional and rental property interiors. The premium-grade steel construction behind the thermoplastic cover plate gives the unit physical durability, and the rocker switch is rated for frequent switching cycles. The fuse holder is accessible from the front of the plate, allowing fuses to be replaced without removing the cover or disconnecting wiring.

Frequently Asked

What is a fused spur used for?

A fused spur provides a dedicated fused connection point for a fixed appliance such as a boiler, oven, extractor fan or towel rail. It allows the appliance to be switched off and fused independently without needing a standard plug socket.

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed. The screwless cover plate adds 4.3mm of projection from the wall once fitted, giving a low-profile finish.

Can the fuse be replaced without removing the cover plate?

Yes. The fuse holder is accessible from the front of the plate. The holder can be removed, the fuse replaced, and the holder re-inserted without disconnecting the wiring or removing the screwless cover.

What does the neon indicator show?

The red neon glows when the rocker switch is in the 'on' position, confirming that power is being supplied to the connected appliance. If the neon is off, the circuit is isolated at the switch.
