Description
The Knightsbridge pop-up socket combines a 13A mains outlet, a 10W Qi wireless charging pad, and dual USB ports (one USB-A, one USB-C) in a single retractable unit that fits into an 80mm desk grommet. The wireless charging pad sits flush with the top surface when the unit is raised, supporting Qi-compatible devices including modern smartphones and earbuds at up to 10W charging speed.
Designed for desk installations in home offices, co-working spaces, hotel rooms and kitchen worktops, the unit retracts when not in use to keep the work surface clear. The recessed depth of 149.8mm requires a minimum void of 160mm beneath the desk surface to accommodate the mechanism and cable entry. The aluminium housing in matt black finish pairs with modern and industrial desk designs, while the integrated wireless pad removes the need for separate charging cables for compatible devices.
The USB-C port supports Power Delivery (PD) protocol and delivers up to 30W output, suitable for fast-charging laptops, tablets and smartphones that support the standard. The USB-A port supports Quick Charge (QC) and delivers up to 18W. A 2m power cable with a fitted BS plug top is supplied, allowing the unit to be connected to a standard UK socket without additional wiring. The wireless charging pad operates at 5V 2A or 9V 1.1A depending on device compatibility, with an effective charging distance of 2-5mm, meaning most phone cases do not need to be removed for charging to work.

Frequently Asked
What desk thickness and void depth is required for installation?
The unit fits standard 80mm desk grommet cut-outs and requires a minimum 160mm void beneath the desk surface to accommodate the retracted mechanism and cable entry. Desk thickness between 20-50mm is typical for safe installation.
Does the wireless charger work through phone cases?
The Qi wireless charging pad has an effective charging distance of 2-5mm, so most standard phone cases do not need to be removed. Thick cases, metal cases or cases with card holders may block charging and should be removed.
What devices are compatible with the USB-C fast-charge port?
The USB-C port supports Power Delivery (PD) protocol and delivers up to 30W at 20V 1.5A, making it compatible with laptops, tablets and smartphones that support USB-C PD fast-charging. Note that iPhone 15 models are not compatible with this port for charging — use the wireless pad or USB-A port instead.
Is the unit hardwired or does it use a plug?
The unit is supplied with a 2m power cable and a fitted BS plug top, allowing it to be connected to any standard UK 13A socket. It does not require hardwiring or an electrician for installation, making it suitable for rental properties and temporary desk setups.
