Description

The Knightsbridge 13A 2-gang DP switched socket adds twin earth terminals behind a matt white screwless faceplate with a white insert. The dual-pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when the socket is switched off, providing additional safety over single-pole switching for high-draw appliances. The twin earth terminals support high-integrity earthing setups required in commercial installations and certain residential applications where supplementary bonding is specified.

Designed for residential, office and commercial installation, the socket fits a standard 25mm minimum back box depth and uses a screwless cover plate that clips onto a separate metal sub-frame. This means there are no visible screws or fixings on the wall once installed, giving a cleaner finish than traditional screw-fixed plates. The 13A rating handles standard UK appliance loads up to 3,120W per outlet. The built-in gasket between the cover plate and sub-frame reduces air gaps and dust ingress.

The matt white finish on premium-grade steel gives a soft, low-reflectance surface that pairs well with white, off-white and neutral-toned interiors. The white insert behind the faceplate hides the back of the cover plate and gives a defined edge to each outlet aperture. The matching metal rockers sit flush with the plate when switched, maintaining the low-profile design. Knightsbridge certifies the socket to BS 1363:2 and backs it with a 25-year warranty.

Frequently Asked

What are twin earth terminals used for?

Twin earth terminals provide two separate earth connection points instead of one. This is required in high-integrity earthing setups, certain commercial installations, and where supplementary bonding is specified by Building Regulations or BS 7671 wiring regulations. Most domestic single-dwelling installations use a single earth terminal.

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The screwless cover plate adds 4.3mm of projection from the wall once fitted, giving a total wall-to-faceplate depth of approximately 29mm.

Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?

Yes. The cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting around the socket and re-clipped without re-wiring. The built-in gasket maintains the seal when re-fitted.

What other finishes are available in this range?

Knightsbridge produces this style in a range of finishes including polished chrome, brushed chrome, polished brass, antique brass, matt black and white. Use the search function or filters to find other variants in stock at Niori.
