Description
The Knightsbridge 13A 1-gang SP switched socket adds one USB-A and one USB-C fast charge port behind an anthracite screwless faceplate with a black insert. The USB-C port delivers up to 18W on a single device, or 20W combined (5V DC, 4A shared) when both ports are in use, supporting PD and QC fast-charge protocols for rapid top-up of phones, tablets and portable devices.
Designed for residential, hospitality and commercial installation, the socket fits a standard 35mm minimum back box depth and uses a screwless cover plate that clips onto a separate metal sub-frame. The single-pole switching isolates the live line when the socket is switched off, while the earth terminal remains connected. The socket is certified to OVC III and carries IP20 ingress protection for indoor use in dry locations.
The anthracite finish is a dark grey-bronze tone that sits between graphite and black, pairing well with industrial, contemporary and monochrome interiors. The black insert behind the faceplate hides the back of the cover plate and gives a defined edge to each outlet aperture. Built-in overload, overheat and overcurrent protection maintain safe operation under sustained use. A 10mm spacer is included to accommodate different installation scenarios. Stand-by power consumption is 0.1W, meeting ErP energy-saving requirements.
The fast-charge function delivers 0-50% battery in under 30 minutes on compatible devices, then automatically shifts to standard charging mode when the battery reaches approximately 70% to extend long-term battery health. Always use certified USB cables to guarantee optimal charging performance and safety.

Frequently Asked
What back box depth is required?
A 35mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The screwless cover plate adds approximately 4.3mm of projection from the wall once fitted. A 10mm spacer is included to accommodate different installation scenarios.
What's the USB charging output?
The socket provides 5V DC at up to 4A shared between both ports. A single port can deliver up to 18W, or 20W combined when both USB-A and USB-C ports are in use. The socket supports PD (Power Delivery) and QC (Quick Charge) fast-charge protocols.
What does single-pole switching mean?
Single-pole (SP) switching isolates the live line when the socket is switched off, but the neutral and earth remain connected. This is the standard switching type for most UK residential sockets. For additional safety on high-draw appliances, consider a double-pole (DP) variant.
Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?
Yes. The cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting around the socket and re-clipped without re-wiring.
