Description

The Knightsbridge 120° PIR sensor module is a 50x50mm motion-activated switch designed for euro modular grid frames. A passive infrared sensor detects movement across a 120° field of view up to 5 metres away, triggering lights automatically when motion is detected and switching them off after 3 minutes of inactivity. An override button below the sensor lens toggles between AUTO mode and continuous ON mode when manual control is needed.

Designed for hallways, bathrooms, utility rooms and commercial corridors where hands-free switching saves energy and improves accessibility, the module fits standard euro modular frames that accept 50x50mm inserts. The sensor requires a 47mm minimum back box depth and wiring via live and neutral for operation. The lux sensitivity ensures the sensor only activates in low ambient light conditions, preventing triggering during daylight hours in spaces with natural light.

The module supports loads up to 100W LED or 200W incandescent, handling single circuits, multiple downlights or wall lights on a single zone. The grey polycarbonate finish matches other Knightsbridge grid modules in the same colour family, allowing multi-function frames to be built with consistent visual treatment. The module is sold separately from the faceplate, which must be ordered according to the grid frame being used.

Frequently Asked

Does the module include a faceplate?

No. The module is sold separately from the modular faceplate and frame. You will need to order a compatible euro modular grid frame and faceplate that accepts 50x50mm modules.

What is the detection range and timer setting?

The sensor detects motion across a 120° field of view up to 5 metres away. Once triggered, lights remain on for 3 minutes before switching off automatically. This timer period is fixed and cannot be adjusted.

How does the override button work?

The button below the sensor lens toggles between AUTO mode (motion-activated switching) and continuous ON mode. In ON mode, lights stay on regardless of motion detection until the button is pressed again to return to AUTO mode.

What back box depth is required?

A minimum 47mm back box depth is needed. The module itself has a recessed depth of 40mm, so the 47mm box allows space for wiring and secure mounting within a euro modular frame.
