The Knightsbridge SF8900AT is a dual voltage shaver socket accepting both 115V and 230V inputs at 20VA output, fitted behind an anthracite screwless faceplate with a black insert. The socket provides isolated transformer output suitable for shavers, toothbrushes and other low-power grooming appliances, and carries an IP41 rating for safe installation in bathroom zones 2 and 3.

Designed for residential bathrooms, en-suites and hotel guest rooms, the socket fits a standard 47mm minimum back box depth and uses a screwless cover plate that clips onto a separate metal sub-frame. This means there are no visible screws or fixings on the wall once installed, giving a cleaner finish than traditional screw-fixed plates. The IP41 rating provides protection against vertically falling water droplets and solid objects above 1mm, making the socket suitable for positions away from direct shower spray but within typical bathroom humidity.

The premium-grade steel construction meets EN 61558 transformer safety standards and carries a 25-year manufacturer warranty. Can this socket be used in a shower enclosure?

No. The IP41 rating makes the socket suitable for bathroom zones 2 and 3 (positions outside the immediate shower or bath area), but not for zone 0 or zone 1 where direct water spray occurs. Install at least 600mm from the edge of a shower tray or bath.

What appliances can it power?

The socket is designed for low-power grooming appliances such as electric shavers and toothbrushes rated at 20VA or below. It provides isolated transformer output at both 115V and 230V, so it accepts shavers designed for either voltage standard.

What back box depth is required?

A 47mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The screwless cover plate adds 4.3mm of projection from the wall once fitted.

Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?

Yes. The anthracite cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for tiling or painting around the socket and re-clipped without re-wiring.
