Description

The Knightsbridge 10AX 4-gang 2-way light switch controls up to four independent lighting circuits from a single faceplate behind a white square-edge plate. Each gang is rated at 10AX (2,300W on 230V mains), handling standard domestic lighting loads and most switched-fused-spur applications. The 2-way configuration allows each circuit to be controlled from two locations when paired with a second 2-way switch elsewhere in the room.

Designed for residential and commercial installation, the switch suits multi-zone living spaces, commercial offices, corridors and hospitality settings where several lighting circuits need to be controlled from one wall position. The 9mm square-edge plate projects minimally from the wall, giving a flat contemporary profile that works in modern interiors, care homes, schools and rental properties where a neutral finish is needed. The white thermoset resin construction is harder-wearing than standard thermoplastic and includes an anti-microbial additive tested to ISO 22196:2011, reducing bacterial growth on the surface.

The switch fits a 16mm minimum back box depth and includes screw cap covers that hide the fixing screws once installed. The square-edge design has no bevelled or rounded margins, so the plate sits flush to the wall with a defined rectangular outline. Knightsbridge certifies this switch to EN 60669-1 and backs it with a 25-year warranty, reflecting the durability of the thermoset resin construction. The IP20 rating is suitable for dry indoor locations but not for bathrooms, kitchens or outdoor use.

Frequently Asked

What does 2-way mean?

A 2-way switch allows each lighting circuit to be controlled from two separate wall locations. Pair this switch with a second 2-way switch at the other end of a hallway, stairwell or large room to control the same lights from both positions.

What back box depth is required?

A 16mm minimum back box depth is needed. The 9mm plate projection means the total depth from the wall surface is 25mm once installed.

What is the anti-microbial coating?

The thermoset resin includes an additive tested to ISO 22196:2011 that inhibits bacterial growth on the surface. This is useful in care homes, hospitals, schools and kitchens where touch surfaces are cleaned frequently.

Can this be used in bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating is for dry indoor locations only. Bathrooms require switches with IP44 or higher ratings, or switches positioned outside the bathroom zones.
