10AX 2-Way Pull Cord Switch - Antique Brass

The Knightsbridge 10AX 2-way pull cord switch features a 74mm diameter antique brass ceiling rose with a matching pull cord tip on a 1.5m black textile cord. The switch is rated at 10AX for 230V lighting circuits and supports 2-way wiring, allowing control from two switch positions (this ceiling pull cord plus a wall switch).

Designed for bathrooms, en-suites, utility rooms, walk-in wardrobes and loft spaces where ceiling-level switching is required or preferred over wall-mounted switches. The IP20 rating makes it suitable for zones beyond the immediate splash zones in bathrooms (typically zone 3 and outside). The 2-way capability means the light can be controlled from both the pull cord and a separate wall switch, useful in bathrooms with dual entry points or utility rooms where wall switching is also present.

The antique brass finish is a mid-tone brushed brass with a subtle aged patina, providing warmth without the high shine of polished brass. The construction combines a thermoset resin ceiling rose with steel internals and an earth terminal for safe grounding. The pull cord is field-adjustable on installation if the 1.5m length needs shortening to suit ceiling height. The switch is certified to EN 60669-1 and carries a 25-year warranty.

Can this be used in a bathroom?

Yes. The IP20 rating makes it suitable for zone 3 in bathrooms (600mm or more from the bath/shower edge) and for any area outside the defined splash zones. It should not be installed directly above a bath or inside a shower enclosure.

What does 2-way mean?

2-way wiring allows the light to be controlled from two switch positions — this ceiling pull cord plus a wall switch elsewhere in the room. If you only need single-point switching (just the pull cord), the switch can still be wired as a simple 1-way circuit.

Can the cord length be adjusted?

Yes. The 1.5m cord can be shortened during installation by an electrician to suit your ceiling height. Most installations trim the cord so the pull tip hangs at approximately 1.8-2m above floor level for comfortable reach.
