Description

The Knightsbridge 100A 5-way SP connector block is a blue polycarbonate junction block rated for neutral (N) connections in 230V electrical installations. It accepts up to five conductors between 2.5mm² and 35mm², secured by Allen key terminals that provide higher clamping force than standard screw terminals and resist loosening under vibration.

Designed for distribution boards, consumer units and sub-distribution applications in residential and commercial installations, the block carries an IP2XD rating that prevents finger contact with live parts when the cover is closed. The interlocking modular design allows multiple blocks to clip together side-by-side, creating larger junction arrays without additional mounting hardware.

The blue colour coding follows BS 7671 wiring regulations for neutral connections, helping electricians identify circuit roles at a glance during inspection or modification. The polycarbonate body is self-extinguishing and resists impact damage during handling. The hinged cover includes a wire lock slot that allows a cable tie or seal wire to be threaded through, preventing unauthorised access after commissioning.

Frequently Asked

What conductor sizes does it accept?

The block accepts conductors between 2.5mm² and 35mm² cross-sectional area. Common UK cable sizes within this range include 2.5mm², 4mm², 6mm², 10mm², 16mm², 25mm² and 35mm² singles or the equivalent stranded cores.

Why are Allen key terminals used instead of screws?

Allen key (hex socket) terminals provide higher clamping torque and a more consistent connection than standard slotted or Phillips screws. They are less prone to cam-out during tightening and resist loosening under vibration, making them preferred in commercial and industrial distribution applications.

Can multiple blocks be joined together?

Yes. The interlocking modular design allows blocks to clip side-by-side, creating larger junction arrays. This is common in distribution boards where multiple neutral, live and earth blocks are mounted together to form a complete busbar assembly.

What does the IP2XD rating mean?

IP2XD indicates protection against fingers or similar objects exceeding 12.5mm diameter touching live parts when the cover is closed. This is the minimum IP rating required for accessible terminal blocks in consumer units and distribution boards under BS EN 61439.
