Description

The Knightsbridge pull cord dimmer switch is a 1-way trailing edge controller rated for 10-150W incandescent or 5-100W LED loads, housed in a 75mm diameter anthracite canopy with a 1.5m black fabric pull cord. The unit operates via a simple pull mechanism: a short pull switches the light on or off, while holding the cord dims the output up or down to the desired level.

Designed for bathrooms, bedrooms and areas where wall-mounted switches are impractical or prohibited by building regulations, the pull cord dimmer mounts directly to the ceiling rose or light fitting location. The trailing edge dimming circuit is compatible with most dimmable LED bulbs and all incandescent bulbs, reducing flicker and hum compared to leading-edge dimmers. An integrated potentiometer inside the canopy allows fine adjustment of the dimming curve during installation to match the specific lamp load.

The canopy is constructed from steel with an ABS cone-shaped pull handle, both finished in a dark grey anthracite that blends with modern bathroom and bedroom colour schemes. At 36mm height and 75mm diameter, the unit sits flush to a standard ceiling rose without protruding into the room. The IP20 rating makes it suitable for bathroom zones 3 and outside, but not for wet zones directly above baths or showers. The dimmer is certified to EN 60669-2 and carries a Class II double-insulated rating, meaning it does not require an earth connection.

Frequently Asked

Is this compatible with all LED bulbs?

The trailing edge circuit is compatible with most dimmable LED bulbs rated between 5-100W equivalent load. Non-dimmable LEDs will not work with this dimmer. Always check the lamp manufacturer confirms trailing edge dimmer compatibility before pairing.

Can this be used in a bathroom?

The IP20 rating makes it suitable for bathroom zone 3 (areas beyond 0.6m from a bath or shower) and outside bathroom zones. It cannot be installed in zones 0, 1 or 2 where direct water contact or spray is possible.

How is the dimming curve adjusted?

A small potentiometer inside the canopy can be adjusted with a flat-head screwdriver during installation. Turning this potentiometer changes the minimum dimming level, which helps eliminate flicker with specific lamp loads. See the manual for the exact adjustment procedure.

Does it require an earth connection?

No. The Class II double-insulated rating means the dimmer does not require or accept an earth connection. It connects only to live and switched live conductors in the ceiling rose.
