Description
The single F-type connector here brings the cable in from a satellite dish and finishes it neatly at the wall. The plate is screwless, so the outer cover clips over the frame beneath and the face reads as unbroken grey with nothing on show. It is 88mm square, the usual single gang size, so it sits in line with the switches and power points already in the room. The moulding is polycarbonate in a light grey, with the threaded F-type connector set centrally.
This is the socket to use where a satellite receiver needs a proper connection point rather than a cable trailing across the skirting board. It works in a living room being set out around the television, in a bedroom taking another receiver, or in a study where the same wall carries data and aerial sockets. We reach for the light grey when a bright white plate would sit too hard against grey paint, painted panelling or a darker room, and it is a quiet choice on pale plaster too.
The plate and cover are moulded polycarbonate, a material that keeps the fitting light and holds its colour well. The threaded connector takes a standard F-type plug, hand-tightened. Cleaning takes very little: a dry cloth across the face now and then, and a barely damp one where fingermarks have built up, keeping solvents and cream cleaners away from the moulding. It is meant for dry rooms indoors, and it handles signal rather than mains power. It carries a ten year warranty. On a wall where the plates match one another, an socket like this disappears into the scheme, which is exactly what we want it to do.

Frequently Asked
What sort of connection does it take?
A single F-type threaded connector, which is the standard fitting for satellite cable and receiver leads.
What size is the plate?
It is 88mm square, the standard single gang footprint, with a plate and back box depth of 25mm.
Why is it called screwless?
The visible cover clips over the frame beneath, so no fixing heads appear on the front of the plate.
Can it be used outside or in a wet area?
No. It is rated for indoor use only and belongs in dry rooms rather than bathrooms, garages or garden walls.
How should I clean it?
Wipe the face with a dry cloth, or a barely damp one for marks. Avoid solvents, bleach and cream cleaners, which can dull the polycarbonate.
Does it carry mains power?
No. It is a Class 3 low voltage signal socket, intended for satellite and data circuits.
