Description

This is a single-gang data socket finished in warm grey, with a screwless plate that clips over its frame so the front face reads as an unbroken panel with no fixing heads on show. The module behind it terminates Cat 5 and Cat 6 network cable, giving a permanent wired point for anything that works better on a lead than over the air. The plate is compact, so it sits quietly at desk height or low down near a skirting board.

We use these wherever wireless goes thin: a study wall behind a desk, a media wall for a television, a games console or a streaming box, or a landing where a hard-wired access point does more good than another repeater. It suits anyone working from home, and anyone who has had a video call stutter at the wrong moment. Warm grey is the one we reach for in rooms painted in softer greyed shades, where a bright white plate tends to jump out at you. It is meant for indoor rooms and for data circuits only, running at low voltage.

The plate and cover are moulded polycarbonate in a matt warm grey that runs through the material rather than sitting on the surface, so a knock at the edge will not show a pale core beneath. Keep it looking right with a dry or barely damp cloth; solvents, kitchen sprays and cream cleaners will dull the moulding, so leave those in the cupboard. It carries a ten year warranty. Along a longer wall we would line it up with plain warm grey power points and television points at a matching height, so the whole run looks intended rather than added piecemeal.
