Description

Plum is not a colour you often see on a data plate, and that is rather the point. This is a screwless plate in a deep purple finish, moulded in polycarbonate, with a single RJ45 module set into a square face measuring 88mm across. The front is clean and unbroken, with no screw heads to interrupt the colour, and the module accepts Cat 5 and Cat 6 cabling for a wired network connection.

It suits a home office, a study, a desk corner in a bedroom or a media wall where a television, console or access point wants a proper cable rather than wireless. We reach for a coloured plate like this in rooms that have already been decorated with some conviction, where a plain white square would sit awkwardly against a papered or strongly painted wall. It carries low voltage data circuits only and belongs indoors, in rooms that stay dry and warm.

The plate is a rigid plastic moulding rather than metal, so the plum runs right through the material and will not chip back to a bright undercoat if the corner catches a chair back.
