Description

The Knightsbridge 1-gang dimmer plate is an 89mm square brushed chrome faceplate designed to mount rotary dimmer modules for trailing-edge or leading-edge control. The plate arrives unpopulated, allowing you to fit either a centre-mounted or offset-mounted dimmer module depending on the specific control needed. A matching brushed chrome metal dimmer cap is included, giving a consistent metal finish across both the plate and the knob.

Designed for residential and hospitality use in bedrooms, living rooms, dining areas and hallways, the plate provides variable lighting control from a single-gang position. The square edge profile sits flush with the wall surface, with a built-in gasket between the plate and wall that prevents dust and dirt ingress around the edge. The 10.5mm projection from the wall once fitted keeps the overall depth minimal.

Constructed from premium-grade steel with a brushed chrome finish that hides fingerprints and minor wear better than polished chrome, the plate carries a 25-year manufacturer warranty and an IP20 rating for indoor dry-area use. The earth terminal on the plate provides a connection point for earthing metal faceplates in compliance with UK wiring regulations. The brushed finish pairs with other Knightsbridge brushed chrome accessories across the same range.

Frequently Asked

Does this plate include the dimmer module?

No. The plate arrives unpopulated. You need to purchase a separate Knightsbridge dimmer module that matches your lamp type (trailing-edge for LED, leading-edge for halogen or incandescent). The module clips into the plate aperture during installation.

What is the difference between centre and offset dimmer modules?

Centre modules position the dimmer knob in the middle of the plate. Offset modules position the knob to one side, allowing a second accessory (such as a data socket or USB port) to occupy the other half of a 2-gang plate. This 1-gang plate accepts both types.

Can this be used in bathrooms?

The IP20 rating limits use to dry indoor areas. It is not suitable for bathroom zones where moisture or water splashing is present. For bathrooms, use a dimmer plate with at least an IP44 rating.

What back box depth is needed?

A standard 25mm minimum back box depth is required. The dimmer module itself adds depth, so check the specific module datasheet to confirm total required back box depth once the module is included.
