The Knightsbridge 1-gang blanking plate covers unused or redundant back boxes behind a smoked bronze screwless faceplate. The cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box, leaving no visible screws or fixings on the wall surface once installed. The 87.5mm square plate matches the footprint of standard UK switches and sockets, maintaining visual consistency across an installation.

Used in residential, commercial and hospitality projects to conceal redundant wiring points left after a rewiring project or renovation, the blanking plate sits 4.3mm proud of the wall surface when fitted. The built-in gasket behind the cover plate provides a secure seal against the wall and simplifies alignment during installation. When would I use a blanking plate?

Blanking plates cover redundant back boxes left after rewiring, room reconfiguration, or appliance removal. They provide a finished appearance where a socket or switch was once fitted but is no longer needed, and maintain earth continuity across the installation.

Is the screwless cover removable?

Yes. The cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame that is fixed to the back box with screws. The cover can be removed for redecorating and re-clipped without disturbing the wiring or back box fixings.

What back box does it fit?

The plate fits standard UK single-gang back boxes, typically 25mm or 35mm depth. The sub-frame screws directly into the lugs on the back box, and the cover plate then clips onto the sub-frame.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

No. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only. For bathrooms, use IP44 or higher rated accessories in the appropriate zones.
