Description
The Knightsbridge SF2191PC is a 1-gang 2-way intelligent dimmer supporting 10-200W incandescent or halogen loads, or 5-150W dimmable LED loads, behind a polished chrome screwless faceplate. The dimmer operates in both trailing-edge and leading-edge modes, with trailing-edge pre-set from the factory. A rotary push-on/off control in the centre of the plate allows brightness adjustment by rotation and power switching by pressing the knob.
Designed for living rooms, bedrooms and dining rooms where lighting levels need adjustment throughout the day, the dimmer suits single-circuit installations with consistent lamp types. Two-way wiring allows the dimmer to be paired with a standard two-way switch elsewhere in the room, so the same light can be controlled from two locations. The 25mm minimum back box depth requirement fits standard UK wall boxes, and the screwless cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame for a clean wall finish with no visible fixings.
The dimmer includes anti-flicker circuitry, a trimmable range to fine-tune minimum brightness, overload protection, over-temperature protection and an inrush current limiter to handle the start-up surge of dimmable LED drivers. The polished chrome finish provides high reflectivity and pairs with contemporary, art deco and polished metallic interior schemes. The matching polished chrome dimmer cap integrates visually with the faceplate rather than standing proud as a separate colour.
Knightsbridge recommends using consistent lamp brands and wattages on the same dimmer circuit to avoid compatibility conflicts between different LED driver designs. Mixing lamp types or brands on a single dimmer may cause flicker, hum or reduced dimming range even when individual lamps are rated as dimmable.

Frequently Asked
What's the difference between trailing-edge and leading-edge dimming?
Trailing-edge dimming cuts the end of the AC waveform and suits dimmable LED and low-voltage halogen transformers. Leading-edge cuts the start of the waveform and suits resistive loads like incandescent bulbs. This dimmer ships pre-set to trailing-edge mode but can be switched to leading-edge if needed — see the datasheet for the mode-change procedure.
Can I use different LED bulb brands on the same dimmer?
Knightsbridge advises against mixing lamp brands or wattages on a single dimmer circuit. Different LED drivers respond differently to the same dimming signal, which can cause flicker, hum or inconsistent dimming range even when each individual lamp is rated as dimmable.
What back box depth is required?
A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The screwless cover plate adds 4.3mm of projection from the wall once fitted, with the dimmer mechanism recessed 21.3mm behind the plate.
What does 2-way wiring mean?
Two-way wiring allows the same light to be controlled from two locations — for example, a dimmer by the door and a standard two-way switch by the bed. The dimmer must be wired as one of the two control points using standard UK two-way switch wiring.
