Description
The Knightsbridge G4LED5 is a 1.5W G4 LED capsule bulb running on 12V AC or DC supply, delivering 95 lumens at 2700K warm white. The compact 10.2mm diameter and 32mm height fit most G4 sockets in under-cabinet lighting, display cabinets, chandeliers, bathroom mirrors and low-voltage accent lighting where the original halogen capsule sat.
Designed as a direct replacement for 10W-15W halogen G4 capsules, the LED version cuts power consumption by approximately 85% while producing a similar light output at the same colour temperature. The frosted diffuser distributes the 120° beam angle evenly without visible LED chips, avoiding the hard pinpoint effect of some capsule LEDs. The thermoplastic body runs cooler than halogen equivalents, reducing heat stress on enclosed fittings and transformer housings.
The bulb works with both AC and DC low-voltage transformers, covering the majority of UK 12V lighting circuits installed over the past two decades. The 88 lumens-per-watt efficacy and 25,000-hour L70B50 rating mean the bulb maintains at least 70% of its initial brightness for approximately 25,000 hours of use before requiring replacement. The non-dimmable design simplifies compatibility but means the bulb should not be paired with dimmer switches.

Frequently Asked
Will this replace a 10W halogen G4 capsule?
Yes. The 1.5W LED produces 95 lumens at 2700K, comparable to a 10W halogen G4 at the same colour temperature. The frosted diffuser gives a similar light spread to halogen without the heat output or the 2,000-hour lifespan limitation of the older technology.
Does it work with existing 12V transformers?
The bulb is compatible with both AC and DC 12V transformers. Most UK under-cabinet and display lighting installed in the last 20 years uses either electronic AC transformers or DC LED drivers rated at 12V, both of which will power this bulb. Check the transformer output voltage is stable at 12V before fitting.
Can it be used with a dimmer switch?
No. The bulb is non-dimmable and should not be installed on circuits controlled by dimmer switches. Attempting to dim a non-dimmable LED typically causes flickering, early failure or no light output at all.
What is the IP20 rating?
IP20 means the bulb is protected against solid objects larger than 12.5mm (fingers, large debris) but has no protection against moisture. It is suitable for dry indoor use only — not for bathrooms, outdoor fittings or any location where the bulb may be exposed to water or condensation.
