1.5W G4 COB LED Bulb - 4000K Cool White

The Knightsbridge G4COB2 is a 1.5W COB LED capsule bulb with a G4 bi-pin base, producing 195 lumens at 4000K cool white. The chip-on-board LED technology packs multiple diodes onto a single circuit, giving higher output and better thermal distribution than traditional discrete LED layouts. The bulb runs on 12V AC or DC power, making it compatible with both low-voltage halogen transformers and DC drivers.

Designed for low-voltage accent lighting, display cabinets, under-cupboard strips, cooker hood fittings, and small decorative luminaires where G4 capsules are specified, the bulb delivers focused task light without the heat and energy draw of halogen equivalents. The 270-degree beam angle spreads light widely from the compact 10mm diameter × 36mm height capsule, reducing shadows in tight fitting enclosures. The non-dimmable driver keeps the cost down and the installation straightforward.

The clear silicone body withstands thermal cycling and physical handling better than glass halogen capsules. The COB LED achieves 142.3 lumens per watt, drawing 1.5W to replace 10-15W halogen G4 bulbs with similar light output. The bulb carries an IP20 rating for indoor dry locations and a 25,000-hour L70B50 rated life, meaning the LED will still produce at least 70% of its initial 195 lumens after 25,000 hours of continuous use.

Will this work with my existing halogen transformer?

The bulb runs on 12V AC or DC, so it works with most electronic halogen transformers rated for low loads. However, older wire-wound transformers often have a minimum load requirement (typically 20-50W) and may not reliably drive a single 1.5W LED. Check your transformer's minimum load specification before replacing all halogen bulbs with LEDs.

What's the difference between 4000K and 3000K?

4000K is a cool white with a neutral, slightly blue-toned appearance suited to task lighting in kitchens, workspaces and utility areas. 3000K is a warm white closer to halogen, preferred in living spaces and bedrooms. Knightsbridge offers this bulb in both colour temperatures.

Can it be used in enclosed fittings?

The IP20 rating and silicone construction suit enclosed indoor luminaires, but check that the fitting allows adequate ventilation. COB LEDs generate less heat than halogen but still need airflow to maintain the 25,000-hour rated life. Avoid completely sealed fittings with no ventilation holes.

Is the bulb dimmable?

No. The G4COB2 uses a non-dimmable driver. Attempting to dim it with a standard dimmer will result in flickering, reduced life or immediate failure. Knightsbridge offers dimmable G4 LED alternatives if dimming is required.
