Description

The Zoom is a 90mm square surface-mounted downlight with a matt black aluminium body and a single GU10 fitting rated at up to 50W. The IP65 rating protects against dust ingress and water jets from any direction, making it suitable for bathrooms, shower rooms, kitchens and covered outdoor areas such as porches and canopies.

The surface-mounted design fixes directly to the ceiling without requiring a recessed void, which suits solid ceilings, retrofits where cutting ceiling voids is impractical, and installations where downward projection is acceptable. The 115mm height includes the GU10 lamp holder and reflector cone inside the square housing. The fitting casts a focused beam downward with minimal spill light to the sides, giving defined pools of light rather than broad ambient coverage.

The matt black finish sits flush with the aluminium body with minimal surface texture, pairing cleanly with contemporary, industrial and minimalist interiors. The square geometry works well in linear arrangements along hallways or kitchen worktops, or in grid patterns across office ceilings. The GU10 fitting accepts LED, halogen or CFL bulbs (sold separately), allowing beam angles and colour temperatures to be chosen based on the application.

Can this be used in a bathroom shower zone?

The IP65 rating makes it suitable for bathroom zones 1 and 2, which includes positions directly above a bath or shower and within 60cm horizontally. It cannot be installed inside a shower enclosure (zone 0). Consult Building Regulations Part P or a qualified electrician to confirm zone classification for your specific installation.

What bulb does it take?

The fitting takes a standard GU10 bulb up to 50W. Most users fit a 5-7W GU10 LED for bathroom or kitchen task lighting, typically in warm white (2700K-3000K). Bulbs are sold separately.

How is it mounted to the ceiling?

The downlight surface-mounts directly to the ceiling with screws through a base plate. It does not require a recessed void or back box, making it suitable for solid ceilings and retrofits where cutting ceiling voids is impractical.
