Description
The Zoom is a 65mm diameter surface-mounted downlight with a cylindrical white aluminium body and a recessed GU10 bulb holder. The fitting sits 105mm proud of the ceiling and directs light downward through a clear aperture at the base of the cylinder. An IP65 rating protects the internals from dust and low-pressure water jets, making the Zoom suitable for bathroom zones, covered outdoor areas, and commercial wet rooms.
Designed for spaces where recessed downlights cannot be installed due to shallow ceiling voids or solid concrete ceilings, the Zoom surface-mounts directly to the ceiling surface via a concealed base plate. The compact 65mm diameter suits narrow hallways, small bathrooms, cloakrooms, and utility rooms where larger surface downlights would dominate the ceiling. The GU10 base accepts halogen or LED bulbs up to 50W (sold separately), allowing control over beam angle, colour temperature, and dimmability depending on the bulb chosen.
The white powder-coated aluminium finish provides corrosion resistance in humid environments and blends with white or light-coloured ceilings to reduce visual bulk. The cylinder's proportions — 105mm height, 65mm diameter — give the fitting a 1.6:1 height-to-width ratio that reads as vertical rather than squat, so it projects from the ceiling without appearing heavy. The recessed aperture at the base shields the lamp from direct view at typical standing and seated eye heights, reducing glare in corridors and small rooms.

Frequently Asked
What bulb does the Zoom take?
The fitting takes a standard GU10 bulb up to 50W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a GU10 LED between 4-7W and 3000K-4000K for task lighting in bathrooms or hallways.
Can it be used in a bathroom?
Yes. The IP65 rating provides protection against water jets from any direction, so the Zoom can be installed in bathroom zones 1 and 2 (above the bath or shower) subject to compliance with IET Wiring Regulations BS 7671. Always consult a qualified electrician for zone placement.
Is the Zoom dimmable?
Dimming capability depends on the GU10 bulb you install, not the fitting itself. GU10 LED bulbs marked as dimmable will work with standard trailing-edge dimmers. Non-dimmable bulbs will not respond to dimmer switches.
Can it be installed outdoors?
The IP65 rating makes the Zoom suitable for covered outdoor locations (porches, soffits, covered walkways) where the fitting is sheltered from direct rain but exposed to moisture. It should not be installed in fully exposed positions where water can pool on the top surface.
