Description

The Zoom is an 85mm fixed recessed downlight with a black aluminium body, IP65 dust and moisture protection, and a single GU10 bulb fitting rated up to 50W. The recessed fitting sits flush with the ceiling, projecting just 45mm into the ceiling void, and the fixed head directs light straight down without tilt or rotation.

Designed for bathrooms, kitchens, sheltered porches, and commercial interiors where moisture and dust resistance are required, the IP65 rating means the fitting is fully protected against dust ingress and can withstand water jets from any direction. This makes it suitable for use within bathroom zones 1 and 2, and in exterior locations under eaves or canopies where direct rain does not reach the fitting. The die-cast aluminium body adds mechanical strength without excessive weight, and the black powder-coat finish resists corrosion in damp environments.

The fixed 85mm aperture and GU10 base accommodate both halogen and LED GU10 bulbs, giving control over beam angle, colour temperature and brightness depending on the chosen lamp. A narrow-beam LED will create accent lighting, while a wide flood beam provides general area coverage. The black finish inside the aperture minimises glare and defines the circular cutout when the light is off, pairing cleanly with matt black, industrial and contemporary interiors.

Can this be used in a bathroom?

Yes. The IP65 rating makes the Zoom suitable for bathroom zones 1 and 2, which include areas directly above the bath or shower tray and within 60cm of the bath or basin. Zone 0 (inside the bath or shower itself) requires IP67 or higher.

What bulb does it take?

The fitting takes a standard GU10 bulb up to 50W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users choose LED GU10 lamps between 4-7W, which give equivalent light output to a 35-50W halogen while consuming far less electricity and producing less heat.

Can it be used outdoors?

The IP65 rating protects against dust and water jets, so the fitting can be used in sheltered outdoor locations such as under eaves, covered porches, or canopies where it is not exposed to direct rain. It should not be used in fully exposed locations where rainwater can pool around the fitting.

What ceiling void depth is needed?

The fitting projects 45mm into the ceiling void. Add clearance for the GU10 bulb (approximately 50-55mm depending on the specific lamp) and wiring space, so a minimum 120mm void depth is recommended for safe installation.
