Description

The Zon is a 30.6cm diameter mounting ring designed to support round recessed downlights in plasterboard or suspended ceilings. Made from white-finished metal, the ring provides the structural framework needed to hold a downlight securely in the ceiling void while creating a clean aperture at ceiling level. The 37.2cm outer diameter accommodates the mounting clips, and the 6.4cm height allows the ring to sit in a standard ceiling cavity depth.

Used in residential living rooms, hallways, commercial offices and retail spaces, the mounting ring is installed during first-fix electrical work before the ceiling is closed. The four perforated metal tabs visible in the image are spring-clip mounting points that grip the top surface of the plasterboard once the ring is pushed up into the ceiling cut-out. The white finish matches standard white ceiling paint, making the ring invisible once the downlight trim is fitted over it.

The metal construction resists warping under the heat of halogen or high-wattage LED downlights, and the IP20 rating confirms it is suitable for dry indoor environments only. The ring is a passive component with no electrical function — it simply holds the downlight housing in place and defines the ceiling aperture.
