Description

The Zon is a 60.6cm diameter mounting ring designed to support large round recessed downlights within ceiling voids. Constructed from white-finished metal, the ring provides a structural frame that bridges the gap between the ceiling cut-out and the downlight housing, distributing the weight of the fitting across the ceiling joists or plasterboard edge.

Designed for residential and commercial installation where large-diameter recessed downlights are specified, the Zon suits ceiling heights of 2.4m or above where a flush-mounted light source is needed without visible suspension. The 60.6cm aperture accommodates downlights in the 550-600mm diameter range, commonly used for high-output LED panels in lobbies, open-plan living areas, commercial offices and retail spaces. The ring sits between the ceiling surface and the downlight trim, concealing the cut edge and providing a clean finished appearance once the downlight is installed.

The white powder-coated metal finish matches standard white ceilings and downlight trims, maintaining a seamless ceiling plane. The 67.2cm outer diameter provides a mounting flange wide enough to span typical joist centres (400-600mm), and the 6.4cm height gives clearance for most LED driver units and wiring within the ceiling void. The IP20 rating confirms suitability for dry internal environments only — this is not a bathroom or outdoor-rated component.

Frequently Asked

What downlight sizes does this ring accommodate?

The 60.6cm aperture suits round recessed downlights with trim diameters between 550mm and 600mm. Check the downlight manufacturer's specifications to confirm the required cut-out diameter before ordering the mounting ring.

What ceiling void depth is needed?

The ring itself adds 6.4cm of height within the void. The total clearance needed depends on the specific downlight housing and driver unit being installed — most large recessed LED panels require 80-120mm of ceiling void depth including the mounting ring.

Can this be used in bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating confirms this mounting ring is only suitable for dry internal environments. For bathroom or outdoor installation, a higher IP-rated mounting system is required.

How is the ring fixed to the ceiling structure?

The 67.2cm outer diameter provides a mounting flange that sits on top of the ceiling surface or spans between ceiling joists. Fixings depend on the ceiling construction — plasterboard installations typically use toggle fixings or batten supports, while concrete or solid ceilings may require direct screws or anchors. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
