Description

The Zip is a compact industrial wall light with a burnished brass lampholder suspended on a black fabric cable from a brass backplate. The exposed E27 bulb fitting accepts standard Edison-screw bulbs up to 60W, allowing the filament to become part of the visual design. The burnished brass finish gives a warm, slightly aged metallic tone that sits between polished brass and antique brass.

Designed for hallways, bedside positions, either side of bathroom mirrors (IP20 rated for zones outside splash zones), and kitchen accent lighting, the Zip provides direct downward light when fitted with a globe or pear-shaped bulb. The 210mm projection from the wall keeps the bulb clear of the mounting surface while remaining compact enough for narrower corridors and smaller rooms. The black fabric cable contrasts with the brass metalwork and can be shortened during installation to reduce drop if needed.

The metal backplate measures 90mm at its widest point and fixes to a standard UK single-gang back box or directly to the wall using two screws. The lampholder features knurled brass rings above and below the bulb socket, a detail taken from early-20th-century industrial fittings. Dimmable when paired with a compatible dimmer switch and dimmable LED bulb, the Zip works as part of a multi-light scheme in dining rooms or living rooms where several can be spaced along a feature wall.

Is this dimmable?

Yes, when paired with a compatible dimmer switch and a dimmable LED bulb. The fitting itself has no built-in dimming control, so dimmer compatibility depends on the bulb and switch used.

What bulb does it take?

The Zip takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair it with a 4-8W LED filament globe bulb in warm white (2700K) to match the industrial aesthetic.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

The IP20 rating means it can be used in bathrooms outside splash zones — typically 60cm or more away from a bath, shower or basin. It is not rated for use directly above a bath or shower cubicle.

How is the cable length adjusted?

The black fabric cable can be shortened during installation by feeding excess cable back into the backplate housing. Once the fitting is wired and the backplate secured to the wall, the visible cable drop is fixed.
