Description

The Zanzibar is a 200mm-tall wall light combining an adjustable LED reading head with a wireless phone charging platform. The sand black metal body houses a 3W integrated LED positioned on a hinged arm that can be angled to direct light onto a book, magazine or tablet, while a flat ledge below the main body holds a phone for inductive charging. A touch-sensitive switch on the body controls the light.

Designed for bedside installations where a reading light and phone charger share the same mounting position, the Zanzibar eliminates the need for separate fittings and cable runs. The 170mm projection from the wall positions the LED head just forward of a pillow edge when mounted at typical headboard height. The 30° beam angle keeps light focused on the page without spilling across the room, and the 210lm output at 3000K gives enough brightness for comfortable reading without disturbing a partner.

The sand black finish is a textured matte coating that sits between pure black and dark grey, reducing fingerprint visibility on the charging platform and giving the fitting a softer appearance than gloss or polished black. The rectangular body profile measures 120mm wide by 200mm tall, allowing it to fit between standard-spaced picture rails or wall panels. The wireless charger supports Qi-compatible phones and charges through cases up to 3mm thick.

The Zanzibar mounts directly to a wall via a rear backplate, requiring a standard 230V mains connection terminated at the fitting position. The LED is non-dimmable and non-replaceable, rated for 30,000 hours of operation. The fitting weighs 1.15kg when installed and carries a 3-year warranty from Mantra.

Does the wireless charger work with all phones?

The integrated charger uses Qi wireless charging standard and works with all Qi-compatible phones including recent iPhones and Samsung Galaxy models. It charges through phone cases up to 3mm thick. Phones without built-in wireless charging require a separate Qi receiver case or adapter.

Can the light be dimmed?

No. The integrated 3W LED is controlled by a touch-sensitive on/off switch only and does not support dimming. The fixed 210lm output at 3000K is calibrated for reading without being overly bright in a dark bedroom.

How is the reading head adjusted?

The LED housing sits on a hinged arm that allows it to be tilted and angled manually. The 30° beam angle keeps light focused on the reading area, and the arm can be repositioned to suit different sitting or lying positions.

What height should it be mounted at?

For bedside use, mount the Zanzibar so the charging platform sits approximately 600-700mm above the mattress surface, placing it within easy reach while lying down and positioning the LED head at the correct height for reading.
