Description

The XLED is a candle LED bulb in the classic C35 flame shape, fitting an E14 Small Edison Screw cap (the SES fitting, the smaller of the two screw caps). It draws just 2.5 W yet gives 250 lumens at 2700K warm white, a soft amber tone that suits decorative fittings. American buyers will know the C35 form as a candelabra shape, though this takes the European E14 base rather than the US E12. Visible LED filaments sit inside clear glass, giving the vintage look of an old wound-wire bulb, and the wide 320 degree beam spreads light almost the whole way round.

This bulb earns its place in chandeliers, wall brackets, candle-style pendants and lantern fittings where the lamp itself is on show and the warm 2700K glow matters as much as the brightness. The 250 lumen output is a decorative and accent level rather than a main-room workhorse, so it is best used in multiples across a fitting, or as a soft secondary light in a dining room, hallway or living space. The 320 degree spread means light is thrown out sideways and forward, lighting the fitting evenly rather than firing in one direction. For dry indoor positions only, given its IP20 rating.

At 2.5 W the XLED replaces a 25 W incandescent candle bulb while drawing a fraction of the power, and at 100 lm/W it runs efficiently over a rated 15,000 hours. The clear glass envelope measures only 35 mm across and 97 mm long and weighs 16 g, so it slots neatly into compact candle holders. Colour rendering is Ra 80 and the bulb runs on 220 to 240 V AC mains direct from the E14 holder. Please note this is a non-dimmable bulb. Other shapes and caps are available across the XLED range.

Frequently Asked

Which fitting does this bulb need?

It has an E14 cap, also called Small Edison Screw or SES. This is the smaller of the two screw-in fittings, so check your holder takes E14 rather than the larger E27. The C35 candle shape suits chandeliers, wall lights and candle-style pendants.

What old bulb wattage does it replace?

The XLED draws 2.5 W but gives the light of a 25 W incandescent candle bulb, putting out 250 lumens. The LED itself only ever uses 2.5 W, so the saving is the difference between the two figures over its 15,000 hour rated life.

Is this bulb dimmable?

No, this is a non-dimmable bulb, so it should be run on a standard switched circuit rather than a dimmer. Fitting it to a dimmer can cause flicker or buzzing and may shorten its life.

Why does it have visible filaments?

It is a filament LED bulb, with LED strips arranged inside clear glass to mimic the wound-wire look of a traditional bulb. Paired with the warm 2700K tone, it gives a vintage appearance that works well in fittings where the lamp is on show.
