Description

The Wychford wall light carries the same concave clear glass as the pendants, this time on a low, wide bracket in brushed warm brass. It spans 285mm, stands only 165mm tall and projects 155mm, so it sits like a broad band of light on the wall rather than a tall fitting. Two E14 lampholders take 7W LED bulbs, and it is dimmable with dimmable bulbs and a compatible dimmer switch. At 1.7kg it is straightforward to hang, it is a Class 2 fitting so needs no earth, and the IP20 rating keeps it to dry indoor rooms.

A low wide wall sconce is easier to place than a tall one, which makes this useful above a sideboard, beside a mirror, on a chimney breast, or as a pair down a hallway at the same height as the pictures. Clear glass means the light has some sparkle in it, so we would put it where that will be noticed and use the dimmer when the room needs to settle. Brushed warm brass keeps the tone soft against pale plaster, and the modest 155mm projection leaves a corridor clear.

The backplate and holders are metal in brushed warm brass, brushed rather than polished so the finish stays calm under a bright bulb, and each shade is concave clear glass. Wipe the glass with a barely damp cloth and dry straight away, as clear glass shows dust and water marks more readily than frosted, and dust the brass with a dry soft cloth. Keep sprays and cream cleaners off the metal. The Wychford range also runs to six light and nine light pendants in the same concave glass, so a wall and ceiling pairing is easy to arrange.
