Description
This wood effect squirrel ornament sits up on its haunches with a plump acorn clasped in its front paws, and its curling tail is built up from many little log-slice rounds, each one marked with growth rings. The body is modelled with fine, fur-like grooves that read like grain, and dark eyes, a black nose and a small smile give it a cheerful face. It is made from resin in a soft beige finish, bringing the look of weathered timber to a room. It stands 15cm tall, 14cm wide and 7.4cm deep, a size that fits easily on a shelf or a windowsill.
It is at home on a mantelpiece, a bookcase, a hall table or a deep windowsill, anywhere a little woodland character would lift a quiet corner. At only 7.4cm deep it suits narrow ledges where larger figures would crowd the space, while its 15cm height lets it hold its own beside books, candles or a jug of dried stems. It sits happily in a country-style kitchen or sitting room all year, and its warm, natural tones look especially cosy as the evenings draw in, alongside seasonal greenery, wicker and linen. From the front or in profile there is plenty to look at, with the log-slice tail rising behind the body like a stack of firewood.
The squirrel is freestanding, resting on its feet and the base of its tail, so it needs no fixing and simply sits wherever you place it. The beige finish is softly shaded in the grooves to bring out the texture, with a darker brown cup on the acorn for contrast. To keep it looking its best, dust it with a soft dry cloth, using a soft brush to reach into the textured tail, and wipe gently with a slightly damp cloth when needed. We like it as a small gift on its own or tucked into a hamper.
