The Wise is a 29mm diameter transparent plastic lens designed to modify the beam angle of compatible recessed downlights to 24°. At 14mm height, the lens fits inside the downlight aperture and sits between the light source and the room, narrowing the spread of light from the fixture's default wider beam to a controlled 24° cone.

This beam angle sits between accent and general lighting — narrower than typical ceiling wash but wider than a tight spotlight. It suits task lighting over kitchen worktops, retail display shelving, hallway runs where you want definition without harsh edges, and office desk areas where light needs to be contained to the work surface without spilling widely across adjacent zones. The transparent plastic construction maintains the colour temperature and output of the original light source while controlling its distribution. What's the difference between 24° and wider beam angles?

A 24° beam angle creates a controlled cone of light roughly 420mm wide at 1m distance below the fitting. This is narrower than standard 38-60° downlight beams, giving more defined edges and reducing light spill into surrounding areas. It works for task lighting and moderate accent lighting without creating a tight spotlight effect.

Does the lens reduce light output?

Some light loss occurs when passing through any lens material, but the reduction is minimal with transparent plastic. The lens redirects rather than blocks light, so perceived brightness in the target zone often increases because the same lumens are concentrated into a smaller area.

Can it be removed once installed?
