Description

A small cylinder head sits on a flexible arm here, so the beam can be nudged towards a book, a mirror or a picture and then left where you want it. The arm holds its position without fuss, and a toggle switch on the base means the light works on its own, independent of the room's wall switch. The LED is built in and draws 3W, giving a warm 3000K light that sits comfortably against paint, timber and brass.

We reach for this one where a bedside table is too small to take a lamp, or where a trailing flex would be a nuisance. Placed either side of a headboard it gives each person their own reading light without disturbing the other, and it is equally at home beside a dressing mirror, in a reading chair corner or along a narrow landing, where a projection of 350mm keeps the head clear of shoulders. As it is not dimmable, it suits jobs that want a clear, steady pool of light rather than a low glow.

Head, arm and base share the same satin nickel finish, a soft grey sheen that keeps fingermarks and dust far less obvious than a mirror-bright plate. Wipe it now and then with a barely damp cloth and dry it straight after; nothing abrasive, and no spray polish near the head. Keep it to dry rooms and away from shower and basin splashes. It carries a three year warranty. We stock the same cylinder head in polished chrome and antique brass, and there is an oval head version of the Winslow in the same finishes if you prefer a softer outline. The LED is integrated, so there is nothing to buy or change over its life.
