Description

A slim cylinder head sits at the end of a flexible arm, so the beam goes where you point it and stays put. The arm gives about 350mm of reach from the wall, and a toggle switch on the base turns the light on and off without involving the room's main circuit. Its LED is built in, draws 3W and gives a warm white light with a soft edge to it. This is a small, close-quarters fitting rather than one asked to light a whole room.

We fit these in pairs beside a bed, where there is no surface for table lamps and no wish for a trailing flex to a socket. They also work over a reading chair, at a desk in a spare room, or in a narrow hall where a bracket needs to keep tight to the wall. The switch on the base suits anyone who prefers to reach up and click rather than cross the room. It is not dimmable, so where a very low late-night level matters we would let a bedside lamp elsewhere carry that job.

The finish is antique brass, a mellow gold with the shine knocked back, and it sits happily against painted walls, wood and older brass ironmongery. The fitting is double insulated, and it is rated for dry indoor rooms, so keep it out of bathroom zones and away from anything that steams. Antique brass shows marks less than a bright plate does; a dry lint-free cloth now and then is all it asks, with the power off and the head cool. It carries a three year warranty. The same fitting is stocked in polished chrome and satin nickel, and we also hold an oval head version in the same finishes if you prefer a softer profile.
