Description
This stoneware storage jar is made in the shape of a honey pot, with Winnie the Pooh sitting on the lid, his hands pressed to his cheeks and a broad smile on his face. A glossy pale yellow drip runs over the top of the cream body, as though honey has spilled from the rim, and the word "hunny" is lettered in green on the front beside a tiny bumblebee. It stands 20cm tall and 12cm across and holds 700ml, a handy size for a worktop or shelf that does not take over the space. Pooh wears his familiar red top, a bright note against the soft yellow and cream.
We think it sits most happily in the kitchen, beside the kettle or on an open shelf, keeping everyday bits close to hand: tea bags in their wrappers, wrapped sweets, sachets or the clips for opened packets. It works just as well beyond the kitchen, on a nursery shelf for cotton wool balls, on a dressing table for hair ties and grips, or on a desk for paper clips and erasers. It is a cheerful, easy gift too, a fond nod to the bear and his favourite treat.
The jar is made from stoneware and finished in a smooth, glossy glaze, with the honey drip raised from the body so it catches the light. The lid has a short collar underneath that drops into the neck of the jar to hold it in place, and the figure of Pooh doubles as a handle when you lift it off. To keep it looking its best, wipe it with a soft damp cloth and dry it straight away, and handle the lid with a little care, as the figure is its finest detail. Set it beside a jug of yellow flowers for a sunny corner, or fill it with a few wrapped treats before you give it.
